Cookie Policy
Cookie Policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how protoledger.org (the "Site") uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to understand how a site is used. A cookie is described as strictly necessary when the site cannot function without it, and as analytics when it helps measure how the site is used.
Our approach to consent
We keep cookies to a minimum. When you first visit, only strictly-necessary cookies are set — these are required for the Site to work and to remember your cookie choice. No analytics cookies and no analytics scripts are loaded until you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. If you click "Decline", or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set. Analytics is also only active when the operator has configured it; if it is not configured, no analytics cookies are used at all.
Cookies we may use
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
plsess | protoledger.org (first-party) | Maintains your session and protects forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). | Strictly necessary | Session (deleted when you close the browser) |
pl_consent | protoledger.org (first-party) | Remembers your cookie choice (accept or decline) so the banner is not shown again. | Strictly necessary | 1 year |
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors to measure Site usage. Set only after you accept analytics cookies. | Analytics (consent-based) | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics | Persists session state for Google Analytics 4. Set only after you accept analytics cookies. | Analytics (consent-based) | Up to 2 years |
The Google Analytics cookies appear only when analytics is enabled by the operator and you have given consent. IP anonymisation is applied to analytics data.
Managing and withdrawing consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time:
- Clear the Site's cookies in your browser — this removes your saved choice, and the banner will appear again on your next visit so you can choose afresh.
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Most browsers let you refuse cookies or alert you when a cookie is set; see your browser's help pages. Note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site (such as submitting forms) from working.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
